Incident Overview
On September 9th at approximately 9 AM PT in the Port of Long Beach, California the container vessel Mississippi was docked at Pier G and lost approximately 67 containers into the water adjacent to the vessel. There were estimated to be approximately 2,412 total containers carried aboard the vessel. A Unified Command was set up by the US Coast Guard to respond to the incident. The Unified Command is headed by the U S Coast Guard and includes the Responsible Party, the State of California, Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach Police Department, Port of Long Beach, the Army Corps of Engineers and key commercial representatives
