Incident Overview

On September 9th at approximately 9 AM PT in the Port of Long Beach, California the container vessel Mississippi was docked at Pier G and lost approximately 67 containers into the water adjacent to the vessel.  There were estimated to be approximately 2,412 total containers carried aboard the vessel.  A Unified Command was set up by the US Coast Guard to respond to the incident.  The Unified Command is headed by the U S Coast Guard and includes the Responsible Party, the State of California, Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach Police Department, Port of Long Beach, the Army Corps of Engineers and key commercial representatives

Cargo Claims

Cargo claims should be submitted to the appropriate party under the terms of the applicable bill of lading, waybill or contract of carriage.

Advisement and Disclaimer: This claims website and associate claims e-mail and telephone number have been set up to help facilitate potential non-cargo related claims regarding the September 9, 2025, Long Beach Pier G Container Incident (hereinafter “Incident”).  The fact that a claims administrator, ShorelineHudson, has been appointed and a claims submission process has been established, shall not be construed as an admission of liability by any party associated with the Incident and/or create any liability for any damages allegedly caused or related to it.  Additionally, submission of a claim to ShorelineHudson via the claim website, e-mail or telephone number does not guarantee that it will be paid by the party administering this claims site or by any party involved in the Incident.  Submission of a non-cargo related claim to ShorelineHudson via the website, telephone claims number, e-mail or otherwise, is strictly voluntary and for informational purposes, only, and is intended to aid in the potential processing, adjusting and possible resolution of any claim in the future by any liable party or parties, if any.  There is, however, no guarantee and/or right of payment because a claim is submitted to ShorelineHudson for review.  There is no expectation of privacy and/or confidentiality of information submitted to ShorelineHudson, and any claims or claims information may be used for any purpose and shared with, or presented to, any or all of the parties involved in the Incident response for any purpose.  There is no guarantee that any claim submitted will be paid now or in the future.  The Incident is currently under investigation and the cause of the Incident has yet to be determined.  No party has admitted fault, been found liable by any court or tribunal, and/or deemed at fault by any government agency for the Incident or any alleged damages resulting therefrom.  Therefore, the party ultimately liable for payment of any claims has yet to be determined and it may in the future deny liability for any submitted claims.  There is no timetable for when a claim may be reviewed or resolved, if at all.  Any and all rights and defenses are hereby expressly reserved by the parties responding to the Incident, including, but not limited to M/V MISSISSIPPI, its Owners, Managers, crewmembers, charterers, insurers and underwriters.
